On Sunday, February 21 at 2 p.m. at the Bell Tower Regional Community Center in Rancho Santa Margarita, U.S. Army Col. Bill Russell Edmonds will speak about his experiences during the brutal 2005 insurgency against Iraqi and U.S. forces. His riveting book, God Is Not Here: A Soldier’s Struggle With Torture, Trauma, And The Moral Injuries Of War, was published in 2015 and has earned rave reviews. The event is free and open to the public. After his talk and a Q&A session, Col. Edmonds will sign copies of his book, which will be available for sale. A free will offering will also be taken. Proceeds will benefit Strength in Support, an Orange County non-profit that provides mental health services to veterans and their families. The event is co- sponsored by the Higher Calling Council of Saddleback Valley, a new outreach ministry of St. John’s Church.
