My sisters and brothers in Christ:

Just a few notes about worship, ministry, and music this weekend and next week at St. John’s:

anointingWe will not offer an afternoon service today (Saturday, June 11) so St. John’s can go out to the ballgame. We worship on the Fourth Sunday after Pentecost at 8 and 10 a.m. We’ll hear Luke’s account of an unnamed woman who bathed his feet with her tears, dried them with her hair, and anointed him. Who do you think she was? Why do you think she loved him him so profoundly?

— Please remember to support Vacation Bible School at St. John’s (June 19-23) by bringing items for the Very Special List With Odd Things On It and by volunteering to help pick up and unload the set on June 17 beginning at 8 a.m. To help, please contact Lorraine at or Sheryll at

— All are invited to Chamber Music|OC’s Rising Stars Recital tomorrow (Sunday, June 12) at St. John’s at 4 p.m., featuring brilliant young chamber musicians and the members of Trio Celeste.

— This is the best weekend to bring your food donations to St. John’s as we get ready for the Rancho Santa Margarita Food Pantry on Thursday, June 16 at The Bridge Church, 30162 Tomas Ave., when we need your help anytime between noon and 5 p.m. Please contact Roger at or (949) 505-4663.

— The St. John’s twentysomethings meet on Monday, June 20 at 6 p.m. at Selma’s (in the Lowe’s Center) for fellowship and summertime planning. Contact Kathy at for more information.

— The St. John’s parking lot will be closed for repair on Monday and Tuesday, June 13-14. If you want to come see us, please park on the street an hoof it — just like Jesus!

Yours in Christ’s love,

Fr. John
