Connecting and checking-in are why St. John’s two Youth Groups meet weekly. Without COVID life is busy enough, but throw COVID into the mix with its life-changing challenges, and the importance of connecting and checking-in with our youth is paramount.
This week’s ZOOM meetings were full of Middle Schoolers, High Schoolers, and even a couple of college students who graduated from St. John’s youth groups but still stop by the High School group.
From craft bags sent to each kid a few weeks ago, everyone’s concocting a self-portrait and showing their handiwork on ZOOM. Results? HILARIOUS! Check out the pics.
Kids also shared good and bad things going on in their lives. Mrs. Patti’s word to all — youth and adult leaders — is to “pick one thing that you recently goofed up. Then make the effort to do something tomorrow that’s done in a more godly way. Let’s look for those opportunities to be better than we were today. Not better in a competitive way, but in a way where we can be a better child of God.”
Coming up within the month is a group hike — with everyone wearing masks and socially distanced.
If you’re in middle or high school and want to join the Youth Group Zoom meetings for middle school or high school, shoot Mrs. Patti an email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Here’s the schedule:
Middle School — grades six through eight — meets Tuesdays from
7 – 7:45 p.m.
High School meets Wednesdays from 7 – 7:45 p.m.
The YG’s adult leaders are Mrs. Patti, Mr. and Mrs. Nichols, Mike Olivor, and Joe Miramontes.
See you online!
