There are tons of events popping in the St. John’s Youth Groups! First up are the weekly ZOOM meetings, on Tuesday for Middle School, and Wednesday for High School/College; please let Mrs. Patti know if you’d like to attend any of the events and she’ll set you up with the details. Meeting details and her contact info are below.

Next up:
• Youth Group Hike: Sunday, October 11, 1030 a.m. Newport Back Bay Trail Head. Three mile mostly flat walk. No flip-flops; wear comfortable shoes, bring water, a mask, a sack lunch, and a hat.

• Trunk or Treat is Sunday, October 25: save the date; more info to come. This will be a socially distanced and masked event.

• Youth Group Pumpkin Carving contest: Wednesday, October 28, at 6 p.m., with pizza provided. Single pumpkins, no teams as in previous years so social distancing can be maintained, carving will be outdoors at St. John’s. BYOPumpkin already gutted so you’ll have more time to be creative, any decorations you need, and some tools.

This week’s devotional by by Mr and Mrs. Nichols from Philippians 4:6-7 was: “Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks. Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.”

Mrs. Patti followed with a word of encouragement, “Talk to God about everything — if you’re brokenhearted, picture God with arms wide open. If you’re mad at God, tell God; God wants to know everything. Here’s something easy to remember when you’re having a problem and need to pray: ‘When in a fix, Philippians 4:6.’ I use it all the time.”

If you’re in middle or high school and want to join the Youth Group Zoom meetings, or other activities, for middle school or high school, shoot Mrs. Patti an email. Here’s the schedule: Middle School — grades six through eight — meets Tuesdays from 7 – 7:45 p.m.; High School meets Wednesdays from 7 – 7:45 p.m. The YG’s adult leaders are Mrs. Patti, Mr. and Mrs. Nichols, Mike Olivor, and Joe Miramontes.

See you online, on the trail, and out and about!
