Our Youth Groups are back from Easter break! To ease back into regular meetings the Youth Groups hiked last Sunday from Aliso Viejo to Laguna Beach — pics below!

JOY is this week’s theme: how to be open to it and seek it, how to rely on it and share it, how to look for it and learn from the darkness that sometimes surrounds joy.

The final video in Bishop Rob Wright’s series “5 Lenten Questions” is about where joy lives. It is Mrs. Patti’s favorite video in the five part series. It’s just four minutes and you can watch it here.

Mrs. Patti’s favorite line in the video is about joy living up the hill from happiness. She dove deeper into how we acquire joy: “The hard parts of life you go through are more manageable with a spiritual life. Even when you are in the dark there is light to be found. You can learn from the darkness, but you need to be intentional about it; open yourself to what God wants to teach you.

“To move toward joy start to list things you’re grateful for or things that bring you joy. It can be as simple as the bird outside your window. Make notes in your phone and be ready to share next week.”

If you’re in middle or high school and want to join the Youth Group ZOOM meetings for middle school or high school, shoot Mrs. Patti an email.

Here’s the ZOOM schedule:

Middle School — grades six through eight — meets Tuesdays from 7 – 7:45 p.m.
High School / College meets Wednesdays from 7 – 7:45 p.m.
