by the Rev. Christopher Potter

As Reverend Karen, Cindy, Roger, and I are acclimating to our new digs, it has become abundantly clear that with the ‘elevation’ of our office comes also some opportunities for you – the people of St. John’s.

Since we are removed from the ‘front door’ of the campus, and our new office is somewhat isolating of its personnel, we could really use some kind, loving souls to share the welcoming ministry at the front desk. When Roger is at his chair (typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays), he provides well the hospitality and welcome that is so valuable in a church office. When he is out – there is no one! A couple of times already, when the priests were out or in meetings, without Roger at the front door, people are left to wander the halls.

In a few short weeks, all foot traffic onto campus will be screened at what used to be our office. So, when a visitor comes into our office, they will already have connected with the school’s security officer. Only then will they be able to transit to our office. This would make reasonably safe anyone who would volunteer for the welcoming ministry.

We are hoping to establish a rota of people who could be present in the office from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., answer the few phone calls we get, direct people to the right places, and enjoy the warm company (and cool air) of St. John’s office. If you have an inkling, or if you are just looking for something to do during the day, please give us a call at the office, 949.888.4595, or send an email to Roger.
